EMR provides three major championships throughout the year as part of the VLAA progression path to the State Championships. The three Championship, one for Track & Field, Relays and Cross Country, are explained below:

Track & Field

The EMR T&F championships are held over a weekend in February each year and are typically hosted by either the Knox or Nunawading Centres. Athletes must enter through their centre and can participate in up to four events. Progression to the State Championships, usually held in March at Olympic Park, are contingent upon the athletes performance. Winning an event will automatically quality the athlete to progress to the State Championships although a high place may also be sufficient. Athletes need to be cognisant of the events they wish to compete in and the times they are offered as clashes of events, while a fact of life, can be minimised by careful planning of events.

Check the Calendar page for details of the EMR T&F Championships. Results from past EMR T&F Championships can be found HERE!!

Relays

EMR Relay Championships are held on a Sunday in November and are typically hosted by either the Ringwood or Doncaster centres. Teams of 4 to 7 (including reserves) are entered through their Centres with each athlete entered in a maximum of three events. Progression to the State Championships, usually held in December at Olympic Park, is contingent upon the teams place and the strength of their performance in relation to teams from other regions. Typically winning a final will qualify a team to progress to State although even a high place will often suffice.

Check the Calendar page for details of the EMR Relay Championships. Results from past EMR Relay Championships can be found HERE!!

Cross Country

The Cross Country season runs from April to August each year. During the CC season several EMR centres offer regular competitions on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Saturday Competition:

Knox, Croydon, Lilydale/Yarra Ranges, Cockatoo, Sherbrooke. See the individual Centre web sites or contact (found on the Centres Page) for details of their CC Calender.

Sunday Competition:

Box Hill, Camberwell/Malvern, Collingwood, Doncaster, Heidelberg, Kew, Nunawading & Ringwood. See the EMR Calendar page for CC venues and dates

Athletes from any EMR centre are welcome to compete at any of these CC competitions.

In addition EMR offers athletes the opportunity to contest the EMR CC Championship, held in recent years at Ruffy Lake in Doncaster. Athletes need to enter through their Centre but do not need to quality to run at the EMR CC Championships. All athletes that compete at EMR will be allowed to progress and compete at the State Championships, usually held in July each year.

Check the Calendar page for details of the EMR CC Championships. Results from past EMR CC Championships can be found HERE!!
